GIRL I DON’T CARE
GIRL I DON’T CARE
This has been something that has been agitating in the back of my mind for quite a while, but I never felt the need to put it out here like this. But after reading a set of rules on a comment thread towards a cosplay photo gallery, I felt the need to spread my mind with a few more elaborations…
Like I said, I have no idea what any of this is about. :P Just giving my two cents. As far as different divisions in the cosplay community go, I’m completely apathetic. Even without cosplay there’s division. There are people who go to panels, people who do masquerade, people who GO to the masquerade, people who sit in the game room, rave people, photographers, cosplayers, etc. But I just figure there are so many con people out there, and I have enough con friends to not have to worry about how divided the community is.

I dunno, I feel like (based just on what you wrote, I haven’t really read the source that your “online” paragraphs were aimed towards) you just looked too far into it. People’s eyes will be drawn to what they find appealing and if they like something with tons of detail and amazing photography then good for them. People like what they like, and other people like something different. Everyone has their own tastes.
I’ll always prefer to look at an editorial looking photograph of a superbly detailed costume in an amazing setting than a cosplay from Homestuck in the hallway of Otakon that somehow depicts some inside joke from the series. It doesn’t mean they’re “less of a cosplayer” or “shouldn’t cosplay” it just means that they don’t currently have the means/interest to take it that far, and I feel like most people that aren’t at “that level” will readily admit that without any qualms.

Day 3 - A game that is underrated
Final Fantasy IX. I feel like the people that slam FFIX just…don’t GET it. They don’t get the logic behind the deformed character designs, and are off-put by it. Here’s a suggestion: picture Final Fantasy IX with the same realistic character designs as FFVII and VIII. Instantly all the charming, whimsical moments are horribly offset. The game really is a living storybook. The characters look less realistic than most other installments but beyond the surface, in terms of their development, it has one of the most believable, endearing, relatable casts in the series.
Day 4 - Your guilty pleasure game
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball! No explanation needed.
